THEY were Avatars before Avatars were even in!

WAY before Avatars became a “thing” as your image profile, the mascot logo was around.
This logo style features a unique icon/symbol or character, often an illustrated figure, as the central element of a logo. Mascot logos typically embody the brand's personality, values, or target audience through the character's appearance, demeanor, or actions.

When The Marshall of Magic from Bermuda came to elleseven branding he knew that a mascot-type logo would help him connect with his large array of audience on the island. Afterall, Bermy is all about who you know!

Straight away we embraced this identity task and used our 4-STEP IT-WORKS branding process  to uncover the blueprint to his “magical” identity. The use of a blue magician-type mascot floating on a smokey cloud created the mystical feeling he wanted. Coupled with a unique font called Magic Sparkle (funny enough;-) for “The Marshall of” text and a dynamic script for “magic”, we establish a distinct look for this on island magician. We then applied his new logo’s look to core marketing pieces.

Similarly, working with YOGATASTIC was super fun! I mean who doesn’t like feeling like a kid??!! Again, our tried and tested 4-STEP IT WORKS process uncovered the core foundation to this brand’s story. Having a series of mascot/cartoon-type characters really gave them an identity and a connection point to their little yoggies. Clean, uppercarse letterforms with some that were further simplified to geometric shapes to help house the mascots in bright, primary-type colours really made this fun logo come alive. The addition of our unique signature tagline really sealed their vision and mission.

Here are some key characteristics of mascot logos:

  1. Character Representation: Mascot logos use a unique character or figure as the focal point of the design. This character is often created specifically for the brand and becomes the brand's visual spokesperson. The character can be human, animal, mythical creature, or an abstract representation.

  2. Personality and Brand Identity: Mascot logos are designed to personify the brand and convey its personality traits or values. The character's appearance, expressions, clothing, and actions are carefully crafted to align with the brand's desired image. Mascots can evoke emotions, create a sense of friendliness, and establish a connection with the target audience.

  3. Brand Recognition: Mascot logos aim to create strong brand recognition by associating the character with the brand. The character becomes a recognizable symbol and is often used consistently across various marketing materials and touchpoints. The goal is for the audience to immediately identify the brand when they see the mascot.

  4. Storytelling and Narrative: Mascots provide an opportunity to tell stories and narratives that engage the audience. Through their actions, expressions, and interactions, mascots can communicate the brand's message, values, or product features. Mascots can be used in marketing campaigns, advertisements, and social media to create a relatable and memorable brand experience.

  5. Emotional Connection: Mascot logos often aim to create an emotional connection with the audience. The character's design and behavior can evoke feelings of trust, joy, excitement, or empathy, helping to build a bond between the brand and its customers. This emotional connection can lead to increased brand loyalty and customer engagement.

  6. Versatility: Mascot logos offer versatility in terms of their usage. The character can be utilized in various contexts, such as on product packaging, website headers, social media profiles, merchandise, and advertisements. Mascots can be adapted to different poses, outfits, or scenarios, providing flexibility for creative expression while maintaining brand consistency.

Mascot logos are commonly used by many industries such as sports teams, educational institutions, food and beverage brands, and companies targeting younger audiences. They bring a sense of fun, approachability, and relatability to the brand, making it more memorable and creating a unique brand identity.
